Biography

Paulo Alexandre Nogueira Salgado Martins, known professionally as Salgadinho, is a prominent Brazilian singer and songwriter specializing in samba and pagode. He began his musical journey as a cavaquinho player in the São Paulo-based group Katinguelê, eventually rising to become the band's main vocalist and songwriter during their commercial peak in the 1990s. Throughout his tenure with the group, he penned some of the biggest pagode hits of the decade, establishing his legacy in the genre alongside contemporaries like Chrigor.

Following his departure from Katinguelê in 2001, Salgadinho embarked on a solo career, punctuated by a brief return to his former band between 2008 and 2010. His ongoing contributions to the pagode movement expanded in 2014 when he joined forces with fellow musicians such as Netinho de Paula and Márcio Art to form the collaborative project Amigos do Pagode 90. Collaborating with newer generations of artists, he released the single "Sol e sal" featuring Ferrugem in 2019.

In addition to his performance career, Salgadinho released the EP "Salgadinho Experience" in 2020. Demonstrating his dedication to musical education, he also launched an online instructional course titled "Academia do Cavaquinho" in the same year, aimed at teaching cavaquinho techniques to both beginners and advanced players. His enduring influence continues to resonate within the Brazilian pagode community.
