Biography

Samara, born Sônia Maria Camino on July 28, 1951, in Santos, São Paulo, is a Brazilian singer who rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

She began her musical journey by singing in the choir of the Baptist Church in Santos. At the age of seven, she adopted the stage name Samara and decided to pursue a career as a singer. After performing in various bars and parties, she recorded her first single in 1986, followed by her debut album in 1987, titled "Rosa Sertaneja." This album, characterized by its romantic repertoire, included popular songs like "A Mais Bonita das Noites" and "Colcha de Retalhos."

Throughout her career, Samara released several albums, including "Saudade da Minha Terra" (1989), "Deixa Como Está" (1990), "De Um Jeito Ou de Outro" (1992), and "Chora Coração" (1995). Her music often falls within the sertanejo and romantic genres, and she was known for her unique interpretation and emotional delivery. Although she may not have received the widespread recognition she deserved, Samara remains a beloved artist among her fans, with her music continuing to be appreciated.
