Biography

São Quixote was a Brazilian band formed in São Paulo, SP, in 1981. The group arose from three former members of the band Moto Perpétuo: Cláudio Lucci, Gerson Tatini, and Diógenes Burani. They were joined by classical guitarist and singer Mônica Marsola, completing the lineup.

São Quixote's sound is characterized by a blend of progressive rock, folk with Italian influences, and MPB. The lyrics frequently address critical themes and chronicles about the city of São Paulo, reflecting the urban and social context of the time. The self-titled album, released in 1981, featured a special guest appearance by Guilherme Arantes, who was also part of Moto Perpétuo.

The band is remembered for its rich and experimental sound, which moved between different musical genres. Despite having a relatively short career, São Quixote's work is considered an interesting record of 1980s Brazilian music, with influences reminiscent of progressive rock and Brazilian popular music.
