Biography
Serginho Herval is a renowned Brazilian drummer and singer, widely known for his trajectory behind the drums and on vocals for the soft rock group Roupa Nova since its foundation in the 1980s. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he showed an interest in music since childhood, starting to play drums on improvised cans before getting his first professional instrument at ten years of age. Throughout his early career, he joined ensembles led by great names and participated in bands like Os Super Bacanas and A Bolha, in addition to releasing solo works focused on soap opera and movie soundtracks.
As a member of Roupa Nova, Serginho became the lead voice of numerous consecrated successes of national pop and romantic music, including emblematic tracks like "Dona", "Anjo", "A Viagem" and "Whisky a Go Go". In addition to his striking performance as a drummer and vocalist, he also contributed with his own compositions and stood out playing acoustic guitar in the band's acoustic projects. Alongside his group partners, he carried out memorable partnerships with several icons of Brazilian music, such as Roberto Carlos, Sandy and Caetano Veloso.
Parallel to his long-standing work in Roupa Nova, Serginho Herval built a solid reputation as a studio musician, recording albums alongside expressive artists of MPB, pop and national rock, such as Rita Lee, Gilberto Gil, Ney Matogrosso and Lulu Santos. In recent years, he has also expanded his artistic activity to the internet, launching a YouTube channel where he interprets and produces his own versions of gospel songs, taking responsibility for all arrangements and musical instruments.
