Sérgio Benchimol is a Brazilian musician, composer, producer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist, recognized for his contributions to the progressive rock and instrumental music scenes in Brazil. Between 1962 and 1980, he dedicated himself to studying various instruments, including piano, guitar, flute, and tenor saxophone, honing his skills under notable instructors like David Ganc and Idriss Boudrioua. His musical journey began in the early 1970s, where he was a member of the symphonic progressive band SEMENTE and later played with the mellow jazz band TRUE ILLUSION.

Benchimol's solo career, which gained momentum in the 2000s, showcases a rich tapestry of musical influences, blending progressive rock with elements of folk, world music, and jazz fusion.
