Biography

Sérgio Buss, also known as Serj, was born in Curitiba on October 9, 1971. A graduate in music and sound engineering from Los Angeles, he gained major prominence in the instrumental scene by working as a sideman and assistant engineer for renowned guitarist Steve Vai, participating in the recording sessions for the albums Alien Love Secrets and Fire Garden. In Brazil, he established his name in the instrumental music market and also stood out in the advertising medium as a composer and arranger.

In 1998, he joined forces with guitarists Edu Ardanuy and Frank Solari to conceive the celebrated Tritone project, which marked the national guitar scene. Throughout his career, he collaborated with several expressive musicians and, in 2007, released his acclaimed farewell album to the guitar market, Liquid Peace of Me, featuring appearances by artists such as Aquiles Priester and Marcelo Barbosa. His talent and relevance to the instrument were recognized in 2012, when he was included in the prestigious list of the 70 Brazilian masters of electric and acoustic guitar by Rolling Stone Brasil magazine.

Although he stepped away from the professional guitar circuit to dedicate himself fully to photography and his audio production company Popcorn, Buss left a striking legacy in Brazilian instrumental music. He continues to keep music as a passion in his life, being remembered as one of the country's great technical and creative references on his instrument.
