Biography

Sérgio Ricardo Lopes de Souza, better known as Sérgio Lopes, was born in Campina Grande, Paraíba, on October 27, 1964. A singer, songwriter, poet, writer, and lawyer, he built a prominent career in Brazilian contemporary Christian music, having been a member of the famous group Altos Louvores before consolidating a solid solo career marked by hits and national recognition.

Throughout his career, Sérgio Lopes recorded several highly impactful albums, receiving gold records and important awards such as the Troféu Talento. Memorable songs like "Para onde vão as aves" and "O Lamento de Israel" projected his name onto the country's gospel scene. In addition to his strong connection with sacred music and Protestantism, he also dedicated himself to theater and, later, graduated in Law, practicing law alongside his intense artistic production.

His work influenced and engaged with various exponents of Christian and popular music, maintaining partnerships and collaborations with names such as Paulo César, from Grupo Logos. With dozens of released albums, compilations, and literary publications, Sérgio Lopes remains one of the most respected and enduring voices of the poetic and reflective side of Brazilian gospel.
