Biography

Sérgio Paulo Muniz Pimenta was born in Rio de Janeiro on November 8, 1954, and distinguished himself as an important singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist of Christian Brazilian popular music. During the 1970s and 1980s, he established himself as one of the leading voices of evangelical composition in the country, leaving a legacy of hundreds of original works that became classics of the genre.

Throughout his career, he was a member of the Vencedores por Cristo group and Grupo Semente, alongside partners such as Nelson Bomilcar, Gerson Ortega, and Marcos Monaco. His songs, such as "Cada Instante", "Você pode ter", and "Aquele que me ama", marked generations and influenced various artists of the national gospel scene, dialoguing with musical movements contemporary to him.

In addition to his intense artistic production, he attended the Agulhas Negras Military Academy, reaching the rank of captain. Sérgio Pimenta passed away prematurely in São Paulo on August 12, 1987, at the age of 32, leaving behind his wife Sonia Dimitrov and their two children, Renato and Juliana.
