Born Jorge Mário da Silva in Belford Roxo, Rio de Janeiro, Seu Jorge is a prominent figure in contemporary Brazilian music and cinema. Rising from a challenging childhood and a period of homelessness following the tragic death of his brother in 1990, he found refuge in the performing arts. His early career was shaped by his involvement with the TUERJ theater company, where he lived for several years while developing his skills as both an actor and a musician under the guidance of figures like Gabriel Moura, nephew of the renowned clarinetist Paulo Moura.\n\nSeu Jorge achieved national fame as the frontman of the band Farofa Carioca before embarking on a highly successful solo career that blends samba, funk, and MPB. His distinct baritone voice and charismatic stage presence led to iconic collaborations with artists such as Ana Carolina and Marcelo D2. Beyond his musical output, he is an internationally recognized actor, known for his roles in the critically acclaimed film 'City of God' and Wes Anderson's 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou,' where he famously performed acoustic Portuguese-language covers of David Bowie's repertoire.
