Biography

Sexo Explicito was a pioneering Brazilian post-punk band formed in Belo Horizonte in 1982 by Rubinho Troll, Marcelo Dolabela, Roberto Nosso, John Ulhoa, Marompas, and Roger Mendonca. The group initially gained local attention through energetic performances at the UFMG freshman welcome events and the legendary Bar Canil, releasing their early music on cassette via the independent label Onda. Their creative hub in the Santa Teresa neighborhood became a vibrant meeting ground for musicians and artists alike, helping to nurture the broader underground scene in Minas Gerais during the 1980s.

As the band evolved, moving to São Paulo and signing with the Eldorado label, they underwent lineup changes and became a prominent fixture in the circuit of iconic alternative nightclubs such as Madame Satã and Rose Bombom. They expanded their cultural footprint through television appearances and by releasing notable studio albums, including "Combustível para o Fogo" in 1989 and their elaborately titled 1991 release. Their creative network intersected with numerous figures of the Brazilian underground, establishing lasting ties with acts like Pato Fu, founded by guitarist John Ulhoa, and contemporaries such as Fellini and DeFalla.
