Biography

Sextrash is a pioneering Brazilian extreme metal band formed in Belo Horizonte in 1987. The group was originally established by former Sarcófago drummer D.D. Crazy, alongside vocalist Oswald Scheid, bassist Tommy Simmons, and guitarist Damned Sentry. They quickly established themselves in the underground scene, releasing their debut EP "XXX" in 1989 through the French label Maggot Records, followed by their first full-length album, Sexual Carnage, via Cogumelo Records in 1990.

Throughout the 1990s, the band underwent several lineup changes, introducing musicians such as Marck Monthebar, Luck Arnold, and Daniel Médici for their second album, Funeral Serenade. Tragedy struck the group in 1997 when founding vocalist Oswald Scheid died in a car accident, leading to the initial disbandment of Sextrash. The band was also notably featured in the 2009 documentary "Ruído das Minas," which chronicled the origins of the heavy metal scene in Belo Horizonte alongside peers like Sarcófago.

Tommy Simmons revived Sextrash in 2003, bringing in new members and eventually releasing the album Rape from Hell in 2006. The band has continued to endure through subsequent lineup shifts and archival reissues, maintaining their legacy in Brazilian heavy metal. Their brutal sound closely aligned them with the influential extreme metal movement that emerged from Minas Gerais, cementing their status alongside legendary Brazilian acts.
