Biography

Sheila Zagury is a pianist and arranger born in San Diego, California, on October 15, 1964. She moved to Brazil, where she pursued her musical studies in classical piano with renowned teachers such as Hermínia Roubaud, Maria Helena de Andrade, and Daisy de Lucca. Her dedication to music also led her to study in France at the École de Musique Alfred Cortot.

Zagury has been an active participant in the Brazilian music scene, notably as a member of the musical groups Mulheres em Pixinguinha and Orquestra Lunar. She was featured on the CD "Mulheres em Pixinguinha" in 1999. For eight years, she served as the pianist for the Rio Jazz Orchestra, a prominent ensemble in Brazilian instrumental music. Her versatility is further demonstrated by her collaborations with various artists, including Luli e Lucina, Eduardo Dussek, and Ângela Rô Rô.

Currently, Sheila Zagury is a member of the Orquestra de Bicicletas Cyclophonica, continuing to explore innovative musical projects. Her career reflects a deep engagement with diverse genres and a significant contribution to the rich tapestry of Brazilian music, particularly in jazz and MPB.
