Biography

Simone & Simaria was a prominent Brazilian sertaneja musical duo formed in 2012 by the sisters Simone Mendes and Simaria Mendes, widely known by the nickname "As Coleguinhas". Born in Uibaí, Bahia, the sisters experienced a humble upbringing and moved across several regions before gaining national attention. Before establishing themselves as an independent duo, they sang backing vocals for Frank Aguiar and spent years as lead vocalists for the successful forró band Forró do Muído.

Following their departure from Forró do Muído in 2012, the duo achieved massive success in the Brazilian music scene, becoming central figures in the "feminejo" wave of female sertaneja artists. They released hit singles such as "Quando o Mel É Bom", "126 Cabides", and the nationwide chart-topper "Loka" in collaboration with Anitta. Throughout their decade-long career as a duo, they also served as coaches on The Voice Kids and collaborated with various notable artists including Laura Pausini, Dilsinho, and Bruno & Marrone.

In August 2022, following health challenges and personal tensions between the sisters, Simone and Simaria announced the official end of the duo to pursue individual solo careers. Their impact on modern sertaneja music remains significant, marked by multiple hit DVDs, radio records, and a lasting legacy in contemporary Brazilian popular music.
