Biography

The Sinal Verde band emerged in the early 1980s, formed by young musicians from the Presbyterian Church of Copacabana, standing out as one of the precursors of Christian rock in Brazil. The group combined elements of progressive rock with reflective lyrics, having Lucas Ribeiro as its main composer and also counting on the collaboration of Carlinhos Felix as a lyricist. Throughout its trajectory, the band faced resistance from the conservatism of Protestant leaders at the time, but found support in important figures like Paulo César Graça e Paz and sought to expand its reach by trying to participate in the MPB 80 festival.

The band's only recorded work was the 7-inch single released in 1981, titled "Pra Você", which featured the title track and was later included in the MPC compilation Ponto de Encontro in 1987. The group's notoriety began to change when Carlinhos Felix joined Rebanhão, a project led by Janires, which made his simultaneous stay in Sinal Verde difficult. With the gradual departure of other members due to personal commitments, the band officially ended its activities in 1983.

Despite its short duration, Sinal Verde's legacy continued to echo in national Christian music through the compositions of Lucas Ribeiro, which were later recorded by prominent names such as Rebanhão itself, Carlinhos Felix in his solo career, and singer Wanda Sá. The initiative opened doors for new musical languages within the Brazilian religious scene, marking a phase of transition and modernization for the genre.
