Biography

O Sistema Negro is a renowned Brazilian rap group originally from Campinas, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, which began its activities in 1992. With an original lineup composed of Kid Nice, Doctor X, Eazy Down, and Master Jay on the turntables, the collective quickly integrated into the national rap scene by presenting the song "Mundo Irracional" on the program Projeto Rap Brasil, hosted by DJ Armando Martins.

Throughout its trajectory, the group released remarkable works that shaped the history of Brazilian hip hop, such as the debut album Ponto de Vista, in 1993, and the success Bem Vindos ao Inferno, in 1994, which landed tracks with great resonance in São Paulo's black dances. Other important milestones in the discography include A Jogada Final and the acclaimed Renascendo das Cinzas, in 2005, which received a nomination for the Hutúz Award in the Album of the Year category, in addition to the release of Atividade in 2017, uniting the classic sound with new references of national trap.

The history of Sistema Negro also carries moments of overcoming and grief, marked by the passing of vocalist Xandão in 2008 and Doctor X's return to the original lineup years later. Keeping the essence of the Campinas periphery alive in lyrics like "Verão na V.R.", the group built a solid legacy that dialogues with the trajectory of other exponents of the genre, such as Racionais MC's.
