Biography

Sonia Lemos is a Brazilian singer and composer who emerged in the music scene in 1967. Born in Rio de Janeiro, she is the sister of lyricist Tite de Lemos and related to journalist Carlos Lemos, who was part of the board of the samba school Portela.

Her career began with the release of a single featuring songs by Geraldo Vandré. The following year, she launched her first LP, "Sonia Lemos e sua viola enluarada," on Philips Records, which included interpretations of songs like "Viola enluarada" by Marcos and Paulo Sérgio Valle. Lemos continued to release albums throughout the 1970s, including "7 domingos" (1975) and "Pérola de Agonitá" (1976), both on Continental Records. Her 1978 album, "O amor seja bem-vindo," released by Polydor, featured a diverse repertoire with songs by renowned artists such as Cartola and Dona Ivone Lara.

Throughout her discography, Sonia Lemos has showcased her versatility by interpreting a wide range of Brazilian music styles, including samba and MPB.
