Biography

Fernando Fakri de Assis, better known by his stage name Sorocaba, is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, businessman, and instrumentalist. Born in São Paulo and raised in the city of Sorocaba, he adopted his moniker from his hometown while building a massive footprint in the Brazilian sertanejo music scene. Before achieving nationwide fame with his partner Fernando Zor in the duo Fernando & Sorocaba, he performed in earlier musical partnerships such as Kadu & Sorocaba and Marquinho & Sorocaba, starting his career in local bars while studying Agronomy in Londrina.

Sorocaba is widely recognized for his prolific songwriting, having penned over 300 compositions recorded by major Brazilian acts like Luan Santana. His commercial acumen and chart success made him one of the top copyright earners in Brazil, leading the ECAD rankings multiple times throughout the 2010s. In addition to his performing career, he has successfully managed and nurtured the careers of various prominent musical acts, including Thaeme & Thiago, Lucas Lucco, and Marcos & Belutti.

Beyond his contributions to sertanejo music, Sorocaba has expanded his influence into the business world, notably becoming an investor on the entrepreneurship reality show Shark Tank Brasil. Alongside his ongoing musical releases with Fernando & Sorocaba, such as live albums and acoustic projects, he remains a key figure in modern Brazilian country music development and entrepreneurship.
