Biography

Sorriso Maroto is a renowned Brazilian samba and pagode group formed in 1997 in the Grajaú neighborhood, in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro. The band started in a casual way among friends who gathered to play for fun, initially standing out under the leadership of vocalist Sérgio and, later, consolidating their classic lineup with Bruno Cardoso on vocals, Sérgio on acoustic guitar, Fred on surdo, Cris on tambourine, and Vinícius on keyboard. The group's talent and charisma caught the attention of producers, leading them to perform at major Rio samba venues and to open shows for big names like Zeca Pagodinho and Beth Carvalho.

With the release of their self-titled debut album in 2002, Sorriso Maroto achieved enormous national projection and established themselves as one of the leading exponents of romantic samba. Over the years, the group accumulated striking hits, gold and platinum records, in addition to dozens of live albums and commemorative projects that celebrated important milestones of their career, such as fifteen and twenty years of history. Albums like Por Você, É Diferente, Sinais, and Ao Vivo em Recife consolidated the band's popularity on radio stations and digital platforms across the country, generating unforgettable hits that won over millions of fans.
