Biography

The musical group Sossega Leão was founded in 1983 in the city of São Paulo, conceived by the musician Skowa with the initial goal of performing at the "Caribbean Night", an event held at Sesc Pompeia. The strong impact of their debut, which attracted a large audience, consolidated the project and paved the way for the band to become a pioneer in spreading salsa and Afro-Caribbean sounds in the São Paulo music scene.

Throughout its trajectory, the band's lineup served as a breeding ground for important names in Brazilian rock, featuring stints by future members of famous bands such as Paulo Miklos and Nando Reis, from Titãs, as well as André Jung, from Ira!. In 1985, the group recorded their only self-titled studio album with the record label Gel Continental, featuring a large and talented lineup that included a vibraphone, marimba, horn section, and percussion.

The band's prestige also extended to television, with appearances on notable programs of the era, such as Fábrica do Som and Mixto Quente. Years later, in 2018, Skovas revived the project alongside former partners like Hamilton Moreno and André Jung, bringing back the vibrant sound that marked the group's history.
