Soulfly is a Brazilian-American heavy metal band formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1997. The band was founded by Max Cavalera, the former frontman of the influential Brazilian thrash metal band Sepultura, after his departure in 1996. Soulfly's music is characterized by its fusion of various heavy metal subgenres, including groove metal, thrash metal, death metal, and nu metal, with strong influences from Brazilian tribal music and worldbeat. This unique blend has positioned Soulfly as a leader in the "world metal" movement.

Throughout their career, Soulfly has released numerous studio albums, consistently exploring lyrical themes that range from spirituality and politics to war, violence, and social commentary.
