Biography

SpokFrevo Orquestra is a Brazilian big band formed in Recife, Pernambuco, in 2001. Composed of eighteen talented musicians, the ensemble was created with the primary mission of promoting and spreading frevo, a traditional and vibrant musical rhythm from Pernambuco, throughout Brazil and across the globe. Their dynamic arrangements breathe new life into this rich cultural heritage, showcasing the complexity and energy of northeastern brass music.

Over the years, the orchestra has released critically acclaimed albums that helped cement their reputation as modern innovators of the genre. Their 2004 debut album, Passo de Anjo, was recognized by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo as one of the three best albums released that year. They followed this success with Passo de Anjo - Ao Vivo in 2008, Ninho De Vespa in 2013, and Frevo Sanfonado in 2015, continuing a tradition that echoes the spirit of other great Brazilian instrumental innovators like Hermeto Pascoal.

Through relentless touring and recording, the orchestra has become a leading ambassador for frevo on the national and international stage. Their performances blend virtuosic musicianship with deep respect for the roots established by historical figures in Brazilian music.
