Biography

Stephan Doitschinoff is a Brazilian visual artist born in São Paulo in 1977. His multidisciplinary work spans painting, sculpture, video, installation, and performance, deeply influenced by religious iconography, alchemy, and sacred art. Growing up, he immersed himself in skate culture and São Paulo's hardcore punk movement, designing album covers and working as a set design assistant. Later, his extensive research into popular festivals and religious syncretism in Bahia led to groundbreaking community art projects, earning him recognition from the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA).

Throughout his career, Doitschinoff has exhibited in prestigious institutions worldwide, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the Fondation Cartier, and major Brazilian museums like MASP and MAM. His distinctive artistic vision often recontextualizes liturgical symbols and critiques contemporary systems of power, marketing, and politics. Projects such as his philosophical society "Cvlto do Fvtvrv" and collaborations with notable figures like Alex Atala and Iggor Cavalera highlight his innovative approach to performance and conceptual art. He has also published internationally acclaimed monographs with the German publishing house Gestalten, cementing his status as a prominent figure in contemporary alternative art.
