Biography

O Subsolo is a Brazilian musical collective that stood out in the independent scene, especially in the rock and metal genres. Founded in September 2015 by drummer Maykon Kjellin, the project began as a website to promote independent bands, initially focusing on the Santa Catarina scene. The portal quickly expanded its reach to the national scene, receiving material from bands all over the country.

Throughout its trajectory, O Subsolo did not limit itself to online promotion, releasing compilation CDs and organizing its own festival. The portal also spawned a web radio with over 20 shows and established itself as a platform to unite different tribes within rock and metal, without distinction of genres. The project's creator, who is also a member of the bands Doctor Jimmy and Dark New Farm, describes O Subsolo as a tool to bring people together, with the goal of strengthening the underground.

The collective has a history of launching several bands on its compilations, such as Volume 1, Volume 2, and Volume 3, which covered different branches of rock and metal. The O Subsolo festival, in its second edition, featured acts like Bonde do Metaleiro, Boca Braba, Underworld Secret, among others, reinforcing the project's commitment to giving visibility and space to independent artists.
