Biography
Sueli Aparecida Mazurega, known artistically as Sula Mazurega, was born in São Paulo on February 26, 1963. She began her artistic journey in childhood, singing at age five alongside her father, Renato, who formed a duo with the singer Sueli. Her first performances took place in the state of Minas Gerais and, by age nine, the young artist was already making appearances on television programs such as "Show de viola", broadcast by TV Gazeta.
After recording independent albums with her father throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Sula pursued a solo career encouraged by the famous sertanejo duo Milionário e José Rico. With the support of her musical godparents — with José Rico even singing on one of the tracks —, she consolidated her space in the Brazilian music scene. The major national breakthrough happened in 1988, driven by the success of the song "Quero Ver Aquele Que Não Chora", cementing her name on the hit parades of the time.
Although she has a strong connection to sertanejo music, Sula Mazurega demonstrated versatility by transitioning through rhythms such as lambada, tango, bolero, and rancheira. In the following years, she scored hits like "Uma Lágrima", "Fale Comigo", and "Pássaro Livre", the latter included in the soundtrack of TV Globo's telenovela Top Model. Throughout her discography, she worked with renowned composers and recorded repertoires that engaged with great names of popular and sertanejo music, including Chitãozinho.
