Biography

Eduardo Smith de Vasconcellos Suplicy, widely known as Supla, was born in São Paulo on April 2, 1966. The son of politicians Marta Suplicy and Eduardo Matarazzo Suplicy and brother of fellow singer João Suplicy, he built a prominent career in Brazilian music and television, exploring genres such as punk rock, hardcore, and, more recently, bossa nova. His musical journey began fronting bands like Metropolis, Zig Zag (which later evolved into the famous Tokyo), and Psycho 69, in addition to international projects and partnerships with major names in the rock scene.

Throughout his career, Supla has shared stages and studios with several national and international music icons, including collaborations and artistic encounters with Rita Lee, Cazuza, Bebel Gilberto, and Cauby Peixoto. His versatility led him to participate in major festivals like Rock in Rio and to venture into projects such as the duo Brothers of Brazil, formed alongside his brother. With an energetic and striking posture, he consolidated his artistic persona, marked by his iconic look and the nickname "papito", which gained enormous popular projection at the turn of the millennium.

In addition to music, Supla built a multifaceted career in television and film, acting in soap operas, movies, and reality shows. His prominent participation in the first edition of the reality show Casa dos Artistas boosted sales of his album O Charada Brasileiro, which surpassed the one million copies mark. Remaining active in the musical and cultural scene over the years, he continues to release new works and tour Brazil and abroad.
