Biography

Surra was a Brazilian thrash metal band formed in Santos, São Paulo, in 2012. The trio consisted of Leeo Mesquita (vocals and guitar), Guilherme Elias (vocals and bass), and Victor Miranda (drums). The band was known for its fast-paced, aggressive sound, which they described as "thrashpunk." Surra's lyrics often carried strong social and political messages, with the band openly identifying as communist and antifascist.

Throughout their career, Surra released several EPs and albums, including "Bica na Cara" (2012), "Somos Todos Culpados" (2015), "Tamo Na Merda" (2016), "Escorrendo Pelo Ralo" (2019), "Tamo Muito na Merda" (2021), and "Falha Crítica" (2024). They toured extensively within Brazil and also performed in several European countries, sharing stages with prominent Brazilian bands such as Sepultura, Ratos de Porão, and Claustrofobia.

In February 2026, after 13 years of continuous activity, Surra announced an indefinite hiatus, citing the need to "reorganize priorities." The band expressed gratitude for their journey and the support of their fans, leaving behind a legacy of energetic and politically charged music within the Brazilian underground scene.
