Biography

Swami Antunes de Campos Júnior, known artistically as Swami Jr., is a multifaceted Brazilian musician born in São Paulo in 1958. His musical career is marked by versatility, working as a composer, arranger, guitarist (especially on the 7-string guitar), bassist, and music producer. His passion for music manifested early on, influenced by his family, featuring a great-grandfather who was a pianist and mandolinist and a father who was a guitarist and singer.

Since the 1980s, Swami Jr. has been a prominent figure in the São Paulo music scene, having been one of the founders of the bands Xoro Roxo and Mexe com Tudo, with which he toured Europe. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with a wide range of renowned artists, both in Brazil and internationally, including names like Omara Portuondo, Chico César, Elba Ramalho, Zélia Duncan, Vanessa da Mata, Elza Soares, Zeca Baleiro, Dominguinhos, Sivuca, Paulo Moura, and Chico Pinheiro, among many others. His ability to move across diverse genres, from choro to jazz, as well as Cuban and caipira music, makes him a highly sought-after musician.

As a music producer, Swami Jr. has produced over 30 albums for other artists, demonstrating his competence and sensitivity in guiding projects. His discography as a solo artist includes albums such as "Mundos e Fundos", "A Carne das Canções", and "Miolo Mole", the latter in partnership with Wandi Doratiotto and Danilo Moraes. In 2009, he released the album "Outra Praia", which featured special guest appearances by renowned Brazilian artists. Swami Jr. has also been recognized with awards, such as the Latin Grammy in 2009 in the "Sound Engineering" category and the best arrangement award at the Cultura Festival in 2006.
