Biography

DJ Swarup, stage name of Juarez Petrillo, is a pioneer of Brazilian electronic music, especially in the trance genre. His musical journey began in 1996, after contact with the trance scene in Amsterdam, which inspired him to start mixing and producing in Brazil. Initially based in Brasília, Swarup also stood out in audiovisual production, being nominated five times for the MTV Video Music Brazil Award. In 1999, he moved to São Paulo, where his dedication to electronic music caught the attention of Klatu, an important trance club in the city, leading him to become a resident DJ and opening doors to the country's main events.

In the year 2000, Swarup took a significant step by producing the Universo Paralello festival, which would become a global reference in electronic music and alternative culture, held in Alto Paraíso de Goiás and later in Bahia. His connection with the international scene strengthened with the invitation to join the Spirit Zone label and participate in renowned festivals like the VooV Experience in Germany, projecting his name globally. Upon returning to Brazil, his schedule intensified, consolidating him as an electronic music nomad, spreading the genre throughout the country.

Throughout his career, Swarup was also involved in the creation of Vagalume Records and formed the project "The First Stone" with Gustavo Manfroni and DJ Zumbi. He is the father of fellow DJs Alok and Bhaskar, and his influence on Brazilian electronic music is undeniable, being recognized for his contagious energy and for creating unique sound experiences. Swarup continues to be an active and inspiring figure in the scene, promoting innovation and electronic music culture in Brazil and around the world.
