Biography

Taiguara Borges is a prominent figure in the contemporary Pernambucan samba scene. Born in Recife in 1989, his musical journey began at a very young age, heavily influenced by his father, Elias Paulino, a sambista and co-founder of the renowned Grupo Terra. Borges's early immersion in music led him to join the Conservatório Pernambucano de Música at age five, and by seven, he had already formed his first musical group, "Com Paixão." His formative years were marked by participation in various bands, including "Swing Maneiro," "Doce Amizade," "Só pra Curtir," "Clima Tropical," and "Pagodance," where he also took on roles as a music producer.

In 2007, Taiguara Borges founded the group Samba D'Pegada, which achieved significant recognition within a decade, releasing four albums and two DVDs. The group became a notable representative of contemporary samba in Recife, even gaining traction in Rio de Janeiro's samba circuit. This period also saw him develop his production skills, contributing to the group's success. In 2019, he launched "Som da Laje," a project that blends his passion for music with his family's home environment, inviting local artists for video clip recordings and fostering a connection with the cultural scene.

Transitioning to a solo career in 2017, Taiguara Borges released his debut album, "Compositor de Sonhos," which was well-received by the public. He has since continued to explore his artistic vision, incorporating elements of traditional Pernambucan roda samba, coco, ciranda, soul, MPB, black music, and rap into his compositions. His project "Samba Verde" further showcases his commitment to blending music with social consciousness, addressing environmental concerns through various editions that feature diverse Brazilian artists.
