Biography

Tanlan is a Brazilian alternative rock band formed in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, in 2004. The group emerged from earlier musical collaborations, notably a duo involving vocalist Fábio Sampaio and Fábio Batista, which eventually merged with a project initiated by brothers Tiago and Fernando Garros. Their foundational goal was to create music that communicated beyond religious barriers, addressing the "real world" without being confined to a Christian ghetto. Alongside bands like Aeroilis, Tanlan became recognized as a precursor of the "novo movimento" in Brazil.

In 2005, the band released their self-titled debut EP, which was produced and mixed by Kiko Ferraz. This was followed by their first full-length album, Tudo que eu Queria, in 2008, receiving critical acclaim from specialized media and establishing their presence in the independent rock circuit. Their independent outreach spanned multiple states, aligning with a broader cultural shift documented by national media regarding artists who transcended the boundary between secular and sacred music.

In late 2012, Tanlan signed with Sony Music Brazil and released their second album, Um Dia a Mais, which featured post-grunge and alternative rock influences. The band continued their trajectory with the release of their third studio album, Acalmanocaos, in 2016, produced by Fábio Sampaio. Throughout their history, the lineup has included musicians such as Beto Reinke, Tiago Garros, Fernando Garros, Kiko Magioli, and Lucas Moser.
