Biography
Tatiana Cobbett is a multifaceted Brazilian artist, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1960, whose career spans over three decades, weaving together dance, music, and poetry. Initially trained as a classical ballet dancer at the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theater's School of Classical Dances, Cobbett pursued modern and contemporary dance studies in New York. Her extensive career in dance included a 13-year tenure with the renowned Companhia Paulista Balé Stagium, touring extensively across Brazil, Latin America, Central America, and parts of Europe. During this period, she also wrote, choreographed, and produced various stage productions, including the musical "Mulheres de Holanda," which received an APETESP award nomination for its script and soundtrack. Cobbett's artistic journey later expanded to encompass music, where she has worked as a producer and show director. Since moving to Florianópolis in 1997, she has focused on her songwriting, collaborating with musicians like Marcoliva. Together, they released five albums: "Parceiros" (2001), "Bendita Companhia" (2009), "Música Súbita" (2010), "Corte Costura" (2012), and "Sawabona Shikoba" (2015). More recently, Cobbett has been releasing independent singles and engaging in artistic residencies, including a current one in Lisbon, Portugal, fostering cultural exchange with local artists and exploring multiple artistic languages. Her work often incorporates a critical and investigative perspective, going beyond mere entertainment to explore deeper themes through her art. Cobbett has also been recognized with several awards, including the Funarte Award - RespirArte and the Catarinense Music Personality Award.
