Biography

The band Taurus is a milestone in the Brazilian heavy and thrash metal scene, formed in 1985 in Rio de Janeiro. Their journey began with the release of the acclaimed album "Signo de Taurus" in 1986, which became a classic of national metal. Initially singing in Portuguese, the band later transitioned to composing and performing their songs in English, releasing albums like "Trapped in Lies" (1988) and "Pornography" (1989).

After a hiatus between 1994 and 2006, Taurus returned to the stage in 2007, celebrating the rerelease of their remastered albums and opening for the band Testament. This new phase brought the release of "Fissura" in 2010, an album that marked the return of Portuguese lyrics and was distributed internationally. The band also participated in projects such as the documentary "Brasil Heavy Metal" and the CD/DVD "Super Peso Brasil".

In 2016, Taurus released the DVD "Taurus Ao Vivo 30 Anos", celebrating three decades of career. The band remained active, releasing singles like "Existe Um Lugar?" (2019) featuring Alex Camargo (Krisiun), the album "V" (2020), and more recently the singles "Lunático" (2023) and "Dark Ages" (2026), featuring Prika Amaral (Nervosa). Currently, Taurus is celebrating over 40 years on the road with the "Taurus 1985" tour, presenting a repertoire that spans their entire discography.
