Biography

Otávio Coelho Fialho, artistically known as Tavinho Fialho, was born in Rio de Janeiro on December 2, 1960. He built a solid career as a bassist and composer in Brazilian music, standing out for his collaboration with various renowned artists and highly relevant bands on the national scene. Throughout his career, he joined the group Sabor de Veneno alongside Arrigo Barnabé and participated in the formation of A Outra Banda da Terra, accompanying singer Caetano Veloso on important recordings and tours.

His versatility and talent led him to move across different strands of MPB and Brazilian rock. Tavinho joined Legião Urbana's backing band during the tour for the album V and participated in the live recording Música p/ Acampamentos, in addition to having collaborated with Adriana Calcanhotto and Zélia Duncan. At the same time, he worked remarkably with Cássia Eller, with whom he composed the song Eles and with whom he maintained a relationship that resulted in the birth of his son, fellow musician Chico Chico.

Tavinho Fialho's career was tragically interrupted on August 22, 1993, when he passed away in a car accident in the Minas Gerais city of Unaí, at the age of 32. His importance to rock and MPB was immortalized in posthumous tributes, such as the dedication of the album O Descobrimento do Brasil by Legião Urbana, and the track Love In The Afternoon, composed in his memory.
