For over a decade, they have been dedicated to preserving and disseminating the rich cultural heritage of samba from the state of Rio de Janeiro. Their music is deeply inspired by legendary figures such as Noel Rosa, Cartola, and Candeia, and they skillfully revive traditional forms like samba de roda and partido alto, infusing them with their unique personal touch.
Tempero Carioca's musical journey has been marked by the release of their album "Se o Samba Me Chamar," which features a significant portion of original compositions, showcasing the group's creative prowess and their ability to capture the essence of samba from Rio's Lapa neighborhood. The album also includes collaborations with renowned samba composers like Arlindo Cruz, Sombrinha, and Toninho Geraes, further enriching their sound. The band's commitment to the genre is evident in their live performances and recordings, which are characterized by a strong rhythmic foundation and heartfelt vocal interpretations.
The collective is composed of Agrião (pandeiro and vocals), Evandro Lima (7-string guitar), Marcelo Pizzott (tantan), Marquinho Basílio (surdo), Marquinho China (pandeiro and vocals), Nelci Pelé (pandeiro and caixa), and Serginho Procópio (cavaco and vocals).
