Biography

Tereza Gama is a Brazilian singer and songwriter, recognized for her contributions to samba-rock and partido alto.

She is widely known as the lead vocalist of the samba-rock band Clube do Balanço, which she joined in its early years. With the group, she has released several albums, including "Swing & Samba-rock" (2001), "Samba incrementado" (2005), "Pela Contramão" (2009), "Menina da Janela" (2014), and "Balanço na quebrada" (2019). The band has been a significant force in popularizing the samba-rock genre in Brazil.

In addition to her work with Clube do Balanço, Gama has also pursued a solo career. Her solo album, "Aos Mestres com Carinho - Partido Alto," released in 2006, is a tribute to legendary samba artists such as Jamelão, Clementina de Jesus, Clara Nunes, and Dona Ivone Lara. Her powerful and emotive voice has made her a respected interpreter of classic Brazilian samba styles.
