Tião Carreiro & Pardinho was a legendary Brazilian sertanejo duo, widely recognized as pioneers of "moda de viola" (viola song) and innovators of "pagode de viola" (a variant of cateretê).

Composed of José Dias Nunes (Tião Carreiro) and Antônio Henrique de Lima (Pardinho), the duo distinguished themselves by Tião Carreiro's prominent lower voice taking the lead, a departure from the typical sertanejo style where the higher voice usually led. This unique vocal dynamic, coupled with Tião Carreiro's exceptional viola caipira skills and innovative playing style, created a distinctive sound that profoundly influenced Brazilian country music.
