Biography

Tiberio Azul is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and poet whose work is characterized by its lyrical depth and introspective themes. His music blends elements of MPB, jazz, and regional Brazilian sounds, often with a contemplative and poetic approach. Azul's artistic output is deeply influenced by literature, drawing inspiration from poets like Manoel de Barros, Cora Coralina, and Fernando Pessoa.

His debut album, "Bandarra" (2011), was noted for its organic arrangements and poetic lyrics, exploring themes of human existence and connection with nature. The album was inspired by the works of Manoel de Barros, with the phrase "Bandarra é cavalo velho solto no pasto, às moscas" serving as a conceptual motif. "Bandarra" was lauded for its unique sound, which combined MPB with touches of jazz and rural rock, all guided by Azul's distinctive poetic voice.

Azul's second album, "Líquido ou a vida pede mais abraço que razão" (2017), further explored these themes, using water as a central metaphor for the fluidity and depth of human emotions. This album also saw the release of a complementary poetry book, "Líquido ou o Homem que Nasceu Amanhã." "Líquido" is noted for its more festive and open sound compared to its predecessor, featuring brass arrangements and affective lyrics. Collaborations on this album include artists like Clarice Falcão and Zé Manoel, highlighting Azul's engagement with the contemporary Brazilian music scene.
