Biography

Tiberio Gaspar Rodrigues Pereira (September 11, 1943 – February 15, 2017) was a Brazilian guitarist, music producer, and composer. He is recognized for his significant contributions to Brazilian popular music, particularly through his prolific songwriting partnerships.

Gaspar's career began in 1967, marked by a fruitful collaboration with pianist Antonio Adolfo. Together, they penned numerous hits, including "Sá Marina," "BR-3," and "Teletema." These songs achieved widespread success, being recorded by prominent artists such as Wilson Simonal, Evinha, and Tony Tornado. "Sá Marina," in particular, became one of Wilson Simonal's biggest hits and has been celebrated for its evocative lyrics and infectious melody.

Beyond his songwriting achievements, Gaspar was also an accomplished guitarist and music producer. He participated in various music festivals, represented Brazil internationally, and contributed to film and television soundtracks. In 2002, he released his own album, "Tibério canta Gaspar," showcasing his interpretations of his own compositions. His legacy continues to be honored through retrospectives and tributes, solidifying his place as a key figure in Brazilian music.
