Biography

Tiê Gasparinetti Biral, known professionally as Tiê, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in São Paulo. Before dedicating herself fully to music, she worked as a model and studied public relations and singing in New York. Her initial foray into the music scene came after running a vintage clothing store in São Paulo, where she met keyboardist Dudu Tsuda and the renowned composer Toquinho, with whom she later toured and collaborated. Her musical style encompasses melodic pop and MPB, marked by delicate, autobiographical compositions where she often plays piano and acoustic guitar.

In 2009, Tiê released her debut studio album, Sweet Jardim, featuring the participation of Toquinho and various independent artists from the São Paulo scene. This was followed by her second album, A Coruja e o Coração (2011), which expanded her sonic palette with percussion and drums, featuring collaborations and covers of contemporary artists like Tulipa Ruiz, Marcelo Jeneci, and Thiago Pethit. Her popularity surged nationwide as her songs became featured tracks in major Rede Globo telenovelas, notably "Piscar o Olho" in Cheias de Charme and "A Noite" from her third album, Esmeraldas (2014).

Throughout her career, Tiê has continued to release diverse musical projects, including albums like Gaya and live recordings, while participating in collective artistic movements, such as the protest song "Trono de Estudar" alongside Dani Black, Chico Buarque, and Arnaldo Antunes. Her work remains celebrated for its gentle acoustic arrangements, intimate songwriting, and significant presence in contemporary Brazilian popular culture.
