Biography

Tijuquera is a Brazilian band formed in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, in the early 2000s. The group's music is characterized by a fusion of rock and reggae with Brazilian rhythms, often incorporating a strong percussive element. The band's philosophy centers on the enduring power of their songs, with the music itself being the primary focus rather than the individual members.

The band's journey began with a lineup that included Márcio da Vila, Luciano Bilu, Márcio Costa, Alexandre Damaria, Rodrigo Poeta, and Victor Bub, who recorded their second album, "Os deuses não são os homens," in 2004. Over the years, Tijuquera has seen several changes in its formation. Current members include Ammora Alves (vocals), André FM (percussion), Luciano Bilu (guitar), Márcio Costa (bass), Marco Mibach (drums), and Maurício Peixoto (guitar and vocals). This iteration of the band released the live album "Live From Joaca" in 2023 and the studio album "QUERA+TIJUQUERA" in 2024, which features production by Carlos Trilha and a guest appearance by Luiz Meira.

Tijuquera's discography includes albums like "Inoxsambagua" (2000), "Os deuses não são os homens" (2004), "Quem quiser, é isso aí..." (2006), "Rocksteady" (2010), "Live from Joaca" (2023), and "Quera+" (2024). Their music often features collaborations and compositions from various artists, reflecting their commitment to the songs themselves. The band has also opened for notable artists such as Gilberto Gil, showcasing their presence in the Brazilian music scene.
