Biography

Tom Nascimento is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, multi-artist, art-educator, and writer, born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. With a career spanning over 25 years, he stands out in the Brazilian music scene for his versatility and for addressing themes such as ancestry, Afro-Brazilian culture, and self-esteem in his work.

His music moves through various genres such as soul, funk, rap, reggae, and blues, with Latin American and African influences, which he himself defines as "Mineiro Afro-Pop". In addition to his work as a musician, Tom Nascimento is the author of the book "A História do Tambor" (The History of the Drum), in which he explores reflections on respect, diversity, and blackness. He also develops important work as an art-educator, creating methodologies for teaching Afro-Brazilian history and culture in schools, based on Federal Law 10.639/03.

Throughout his career, Tom Nascimento has undertaken international tours and participated in projects like Playing For Change. He has shared stages and recordings with renowned Brazilian artists, including Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, Luiz Melodia, Chico César, and Sandra de Sá.
