Biography
Tom Veloso is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist born in Salvador, Bahia. He is the son of the legendary musician Caetano Veloso and producer Paula Lavigne. Veloso initially gained recognition as a primary songwriter for the band Dônica, contributing to their early releases and the award-winning album Continuidade dos Parques, which earned the group a Brazilian Music Award. \n\nKnown for his collaborative work with his family, Tom joined his father and brothers, Moreno Veloso and Zeca Veloso, for the acclaimed project "Caetano Moreno Zeca Tom Veloso," where they performed original compositions and songs written by Caetano for each of his children. Despite initial stage fright that kept him from performing live during his early years with Dônica, he overcame his shyness to perform at major festivals like Rock in Rio. \n\nIn 2021, he achieved a significant milestone by winning a Latin Grammy for Record of the Year for the song "Talvez," a collaboration with his father and composer Cezar Mendes. The track marked a historic moment as the first Brazilian song to win in that specific category. More recently, Tom has continued his musical journey through partnerships with other artists of his generation, such as Clara Buarque.
