Antonio Carlos Nascimento Pinto, better known as Toninho Nascimento, is a celebrated Brazilian singer, songwriter, and lyricist born in Belém. Throughout his career, his compositions have been recorded by legendary figures of Brazilian music such as Elza Soares, Elizete Cardoso, Roberto Ribeiro, and Agepê. He established a notable creative partnership with the Pernambucan singer and songwriter Romildo.

Nascimento achieved widespread recognition through his works recorded by Clara Nunes, who famously regarded him as one of her favorite writers. Together with Romildo, he penned enduring samba classics famously performed by Nunes, including "Conto de Areia", "Deusa dos Orixás", "Vapor de São Francisco", "Menino Velho", and "Fuzuê". His songwriting craftsmanship deeply enriched the traditional samba repertoire and left an indelible mark on Brazilian popular culture.

In addition to his success as a recording and radio staple, Toninho Nascimento became an acclaimed author of samba-enredo for the Portela carnival school. His award-winning parade anthems, such as "E o Povo na Rua Cantando. É Feito Uma Reza, Um Ritual..." and "Um Rio de Mar a Mar: Do Valongo à Glória de São Sebastião", earned him prestigious accolades including the Estandarte de Ouro and Estrela do Carnaval.
