Biography

Torture Squad is a renowned Brazilian thrash and death metal band formed in São Paulo in 1990. Throughout its career, the group has established itself as one of the main exponents of national extreme metal, standing out for its intense international tours and critically acclaimed albums by specialized media.

The band's current lineup features Amilcar Christófaro on drums, Castor on bass and vocals, Rene Simionato on guitar, and Mayara "Undead" Puertas on vocals. Historically, the group went through several line-up changes and faced challenges in the São Paulo underground before achieving global projection, even representing Brazil at the German Wacken Open Air festival and touring alongside major names of the world scene such as Overkill and Exodus.

With conceptual albums like Esquadrão de Tortura, which addresses the period of the military dictatorship in Brazil, Torture Squad keeps the strength of Brazilian heavy metal alive. The band frequently shares the genre's legacy with other important representatives of the scene, such as Korzus and Krisiun, marking their presence at major festivals like Rock in Rio.
