Biography

Trilha Sonora do Gueto, often known as T$G, is a prominent Brazilian rap group officially formed in 1999 in the Capão Redondo neighborhood of São Paulo. The group was founded by Djalma Oliveira Rios, widely known as Cascão, following his release from prison. They initially gained regional recognition by opening shows for the legendary rap group Racionais MC's, carving out a gritty and authentic space within the Brazilian hip-hop scene by using colloquial language and street slang to describe the realities of the periphery.

Throughout its career, the group has undergone several lineup changes and member reformulations, welcoming artists from various zones of São Paulo such as X-Bacon, Karate, and DJ Pudim in 2000. Their debut studio album, Us Fracu num Tem Veiz, was released in 2003 and achieved significant commercial success in marginalized communities, featuring standout tracks like "Um Pião de Vida Loka" and "Torçu Pru Bem". Over the years, T$G expanded their discography with releases like Aos Vivos, Purke Tudo num Mundo é Vaidade, and Du Lixo Au Luxu, while also venturing into gospel-oriented projects under Cascão's leadership.

Today, the core lineup features Cascão alongside his son Zekinha and DJ Soneka, maintaining a strong legacy in Brazilian rap culture. The group has continually adapted to changes while keeping its roots deeply planted in the social struggles and cultural expressions of the urban outskirts. Their enduring presence in the national underground scene highlights their resilience and ongoing influence on newer generations of hip-hop artists in Brazil.
