Biography

The Trio Alto Astral was a Brazilian sertanejo trio formed in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, in 1997. The original lineup consisted of Voninho (accordion), Barrerito (lead vocals), and Creone (second vocals). Voninho was an experienced musician who had previously played with notable groups like Os Filhos de Goiás and Irmãs Freitas, and had recorded over 50 albums. Barrerito and Creone were already well-established in the sertanejo scene, having been members of the highly successful Trio Parada Dura.

The trio released their debut album under the RGE label, featuring the popular song "Saudade Pica-Pau." Unfortunately, their initial run was short-lived as Barrerito passed away from a heart attack after only about a year of the trio's existence. This led to the group's dissolution.

In 1999, Voninho decided to revive the Trio Alto Astral, forming a new lineup with singers Rio Preto and Ribeirão. This iteration of the group released several albums, including "Dor de Cotovelo" (1998), "Bão Demais da Conta" (2001), and "Saudade Pica Pau" (2004), which gained significant traction. The trio continued to perform and release music, with their upbeat and romantic sertanejo style resonating with audiences. The group's active period concluded with the passing of Voninho in 2008 due to dengue hemorrhagic fever.
