Biography

Formed in 2011, Trio Brasileiro is a Brazilian choro ensemble composed of Dudu Maia (bandolim), Alexandre Lora (percussion), and Douglas Lora (guitar). The Lora brothers and Maia were already part of the group Caraivana before forming Trio Brasileiro. In 2012, they released their debut album, "Simples Assim." The trio has gained international recognition, including a Grammy nomination in the Best World Music Album category for "Rosa dos Ventos" in 2018, an album recorded in collaboration with Israeli clarinetist Anat Cohen.

Trio Brasileiro is dedicated to preserving and innovating within the choro genre, performing traditional compositions by masters like Jacob do Bandolim and Ernesto Nazareth, as well as their own modern interpretations. Their virtuosic performances and deep connection to Brazilian musical heritage have led to successful tours in the United States, where they have also led the annual Centrum Choro Workshop since 2011. Their music is characterized by a blend of technical brilliance and profound emotional depth, reflecting their shared passion for the rich traditions of Brazilian music.

The ensemble's discography includes "Simples Assim" (2012), "Alegria da Casa" (2015), and "Caminho do Meio" (2015). Their commitment to the choro tradition, combined with their innovative approach, has solidified their position as prominent contemporary artists in Brazilian instrumental music. They have collaborated with various artists, further expanding their musical reach and influence within the global jazz and world music scenes.
