Biography

Trio Do Bagaco is a Brazilian musical group formed in 2015, consisting of Sérgio Junior (vocals, bass, composer), Thiago Val (piano, keyboard, guitar, composer, arranger), and Victor Guimarães Bertoni (drums, percussionist). The trio's name, "Bagaço," which translates to "pomace" (the residue of grapes after pressing for juice or oil), reflects their connection to Brazilian music and culture. Sérgio Junior and Thiago Val have a long history together, having been part of the band Laranja Oliva, with which they recorded two albums, toured Latin America, and performed at festivals like Virada Cultural Paulista. Victor Guimarães Bertoni has extensive experience in various Brazilian music scenes, including samba circles, samba schools, and maracatu groups.

Trio Do Bagaco's repertoire celebrates and preserves Brazilian music, featuring reinterpretations of songs by iconic artists such as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Djavan, Tim Maia, Jorge Ben Jor, and Luiz Gonzaga. Their energetic performances aim to connect Brazil from end to end, bringing joy and a sense of preservation of the country's musical roots. The group has also expanded its reach internationally, with plans for a European tour in 2025. Sérgio Junior and Thiago Val have also released solo works, Morê and Serjão, respectively.
