Biography
Trio T.B.T. was a Brazilian vocal samba group formed in the early 1930s in Rio de Janeiro. The group consisted of singers Abner Trajano, his sister Abdaná Trajano, and singer-songwriter Jaime Brito.
The trio recorded their first record in December 1931 with the Odeon label, featuring the sambas "Deixa estar" and "Na roda da malandragem". That same year, they released "Puxa, puxa o cordão", "Tenha cuidado", "Conselho de um santo", and "Coitada" through the same label. In 1932, Trio T.B.T. was signed by Victor, recording four sambas, including "Quando der uma hora!" and "Não há nada", written by José Luiz de Morais (Caninha). That same year, they recorded "Ao romper da madrugada", "Para amar e não sofrer", "É a dor que nos maltrata", and "Ri melhor quem ri por último".
In addition to their own recordings, Trio T.B.T. played an important role as vocal and rhythmic support for other artists of the era. They participated in historic recordings of Rio de Janeiro's urban samba, accompanying names such as Francisco Alves and Mário Reis on the samba "Sinto Saudade" (1931), Bando de Tangarás in "Tava na Roda do Samba" (1932), and Patrício Teixeira on the recording of "Samba de Fato", by Pixinguinha and Cícero de Almeida (1932). The trio had a short lifespan, recording only seven records with the Odeon and Victor labels.
