Biography
Trio Yucatán was a vocal and instrumental group formed in the early 1960s in Mogi Guaçu, São Paulo, Brazil. The band's core members were brothers Hélio and Hércio Oliveira, along with their friend Lucas. Their music predominantly featured romantic repertoire, drawing inspiration from the popular Trio Irakitan.
The trio's career took a significant turn in 1978 when they were invited to perform on Línea C cruise ships. This led to a 27-year tenure performing on Costa Armatori (Línea C) maritime cruises. During this extensive period, Trio Yucatán traveled and performed extensively across the Dominican Republic, French Antilles, Dutch Antilles, British Antilles, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Bermuda, Caribbean Islands, Venezuela, Colombia, Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and the USA.
Throughout their career, Trio Yucatán released several recordings, including vinyl LPs and CDs. They became known for their renditions of popular songs, encompassing genres such as boleros, sambas, bossa nova, and samba-canção. With over 50 years of activity, the trio continued to perform, maintaining their signature style of vocal harmony and instrumental accompaniment, a testament to their enduring presence in Brazilian music.
